The work "Linajes y Blasones de Galicia", by Father Crespo, where the heraldry and the history of the family name Vahia appears, is the most important treatise of the heraldry of Galicia (Spain), and was published three hundred years after the appearance of the posthumous "Nobiliario, Armas y Triunfos de Galicia", by Father Felipe de la Gandara. Its author Father Crespo Pozo, had for his investigations, vigils and costly walks that were rewarded with the kind collaboration of Nobles as the Dukes of Medinaceli facilitating the archive of the Grand Casa Marquesal de Camarasa, etc. All this resulted in a plurality of sources of consultation that make the scholarly work, encyclopedic and illustrative in Galician heraldry. This work collects, as we have already said, the history and heraldry of family Vahia so the Vahia or they are Galician or linked in some of their branches to Galicia.

One of the most distinctive qualities of heraldry is the use of a limited palette of colours and patterns, usually referred to as tinctures. These are divided into three categories, known as metals, colours, and furs.

Next we are going to see the meanings of three tinctures:

1) PURPLE: Justice, Wit, Truth, Greatness, Wisdom and Love; those who wear this color are obliged to defend the Prince defending ecclesiastical people.

2) ARGENT (Silver): Purity, Integrity, Obedience, Firmness, Surveillance, Eloquence and Expiration.

3) GULES: Red color that symbolizes Strength, Victory, Daring and Highness.

Next lets look at the characteristics of some figures that we can find in heraldry and crests:

* CHECKY: The Checky symbolizes Military Art, for which reason it is usually awarded to soldiers who have exposed their lives in combat.

* WOLVES: The Wolves are a symbol of a Constant Heart that suffers the calamities of war and siege with generous spirit; but when the time comes to fight in the open field, he fiercely fights, without giving his enemy a barracks.

* PARROT: The Parrot is a symbol of a Noble Knight, who looks with pleasure at the enamels on his shield, with the intention of not only preserving them, but adding new stamps with his own deeds and is also a symbol of Eloquence and Docility.

* DRAGON: The Dragon symbolizes the most exquisite Care and Vigilance.

* LEOPARD: The Leopard represents the Courageous and Endeavoring Knight who has carried out some daring enterprise using cunning rather than force to complete it.

* CAULDRON: The Cauldrons along with other vessels: cups, jugs and kettles, which were used to handle victuals, were formerly the Richman brand.

* GRIFFIN: The Griffin, half eagle and half lion, is an emblem of Ingenuity and Greatness.

* HORSE: The Horse is considered the symbol of war, representing Boldness and Speed in Action.
