The work "Linajes y Blasones de Galicia", by Father Crespo, where the heraldry and the history of the family name Tanjil appears, is the most important treatise of the heraldry of Galicia (Spain), and was published three hundred years after the appearance of the posthumous "Nobiliario, Armas y Triunfos de Galicia", by Father Felipe de la Gandara. Its author Father Crespo Pozo, had for his investigations, vigils and costly walks that were rewarded with the kind collaboration of Nobles as the Dukes of Medinaceli facilitating the archive of the Grand Casa Marquesal de Camarasa, etc. All this resulted in a plurality of sources of consultation that make the scholarly work, encyclopedic and illustrative in Galician heraldry. This work collects, as we have already said, the history and heraldry of family Tanjil so the Tanjil or they are Galician or linked in some of their branches to Galicia.

One of the most distinctive qualities of heraldry is the use of a limited palette of colours and patterns, usually referred to as tinctures. These are divided into three categories, known as metals, colours, and furs.

Next we are going to see the meanings of three tinctures:

1) ARGENT (Silver): Purity, Integrity, Obedience, Firmness, Surveillance, Eloquence and Expiration.

2) GULES: Red color that symbolizes Strength, Victory, Daring and Highness.

3) SABLE: Black color that symbolizes Prudence, Sadness, Rigor, Honesty and Obedience.

Next lets look at the characteristics of some figures that we can find in heraldry and crests:

* EAGLE: The Eagle is an emblem of Generosity, Magnanimity and Bizarre spirit, that from the greatest heights does not stop monitoring the fulfillment of the least obligations of his position.

* ANGIO: The Chief of Angio, belonging to Italian heraldry, represents a political alliance with the Welf party (derived from Welf, Duke of Bavaria) who were loyal to the Pope.

* LAUREL: The Laurel is a symbol of Good Fame, and due to the perpetual greenness of its leaves, of Imperecedera Victoria.

* SEA: The Sea symbolizes a raging and wrathful spirit that does not lose, however, the limits of the obedience that it owes to its sovereign.

* CRICKET: The Cricket is a symbol of the Irresolute and Inconstant Lover.

* SHELL: The Shell symbolizes the Knight who marches to the borders of his states to widen them by fighting; it is also a symbol of Pilgrim.

* YOKE: The Yoke symbolizes Unity.

* MULBERRY: The Mulberry symbolizes Prudence and Wisdom.
