The work "Linajes y Blasones de Galicia", by Father Crespo, where the heraldry and the history of the family name Rubinos appears, is the most important treatise of the heraldry of Galicia (Spain), and was published three hundred years after the appearance of the posthumous "Nobiliario, Armas y Triunfos de Galicia", by Father Felipe de la Gandara. Its author Father Crespo Pozo, had for his investigations, vigils and costly walks that were rewarded with the kind collaboration of Nobles as the Dukes of Medinaceli facilitating the archive of the Grand Casa Marquesal de Camarasa, etc. All this resulted in a plurality of sources of consultation that make the scholarly work, encyclopedic and illustrative in Galician heraldry. This work collects, as we have already said, the history and heraldry of family Rubinos so the Rubinos or they are Galician or linked in some of their branches to Galicia.

One of the most distinctive qualities of heraldry is the use of a limited palette of colours and patterns, usually referred to as tinctures. These are divided into three categories, known as metals, colours, and furs.

Next we are going to see the meanings of three tinctures:

1) SABLE: Black color that symbolizes Prudence, Sadness, Rigor, Honesty and Obedience.

2) GULES: Red color that symbolizes Strength, Victory, Daring and Highness.

3) OR (Gold): Nobility, Magnanimity, Wealth, Power, Light, Constancy and Wisdom.

Next lets look at the characteristics of some figures that we can find in heraldry and crests:

* DRAGON: The Dragon symbolizes the most exquisite Care and Vigilance.

* CROWN: The Crown is a symbol of Royal or Seigniorial Authority and Dignity or Honorary Badge.

* MARTLET: The Martlets mean the number of defeated enemies and are the distinctive mark of the fourth son.

* GOAT: The Goat symbolizes one who wins through politics rather than war.

* CROSS: The Cross symbolizes the sword of the Knights, to whom this piece was granted when they returned from combat with their sword dyed in enemy blood. The Cross was also taken as a teaching by most of the Crusaders.

* PELICAN: The Pelican is a symbol of the Charitable and Pious Lord towards his vassals.

* CASTLE: The Castle, due to the superiority of its strength over other buildings, denotes Greatness and Power, used to defend friends and allies, resisting the enemy invincibly.

* FIG: The Fig Tree or its leaves symbolize the State Benefactors.
