The work "Linajes y Blasones de Galicia", by Father Crespo, where the heraldry and the history of the family name Riberal appears, is the most important treatise of the heraldry of Galicia (Spain), and was published three hundred years after the appearance of the posthumous "Nobiliario, Armas y Triunfos de Galicia", by Father Felipe de la Gandara. Its author Father Crespo Pozo, had for his investigations, vigils and costly walks that were rewarded with the kind collaboration of Nobles as the Dukes of Medinaceli facilitating the archive of the Grand Casa Marquesal de Camarasa, etc. All this resulted in a plurality of sources of consultation that make the scholarly work, encyclopedic and illustrative in Galician heraldry. This work collects, as we have already said, the history and heraldry of family Riberal so the Riberal or they are Galician or linked in some of their branches to Galicia.

One of the most distinctive qualities of heraldry is the use of a limited palette of colours and patterns, usually referred to as tinctures. These are divided into three categories, known as metals, colours, and furs.

Next we are going to see the meanings of three tinctures:

1) GULES: Red color that symbolizes Strength, Victory, Daring and Highness.

2) OR (Gold): Nobility, Magnanimity, Wealth, Power, Light, Constancy and Wisdom.

3) PURPLE: Justice, Wit, Truth, Greatness, Wisdom and Love; those who wear this color are obliged to defend the Prince defending ecclesiastical people.

Next lets look at the characteristics of some figures that we can find in heraldry and crests:

* GOAT: The Goat symbolizes one who wins through politics rather than war.

* ANGIO: The Chief of Angio, belonging to Italian heraldry, represents a political alliance with the Welf party (derived from Welf, Duke of Bavaria) who were loyal to the Pope.

* TRIANGLE: The Triangle symbolizes Divine Equality and Perfection.

* SHELL: The Shell symbolizes the Knight who marches to the borders of his states to widen them by fighting; it is also a symbol of Pilgrim.

* HAND: The Hand symbolizes Open Generosity; if it is closed, Strength, and linked with another, Friendship.

* BEZANT: The Bezants, due to its oriental significance, was adopted by most of the Knights who took part in the expedition to the Holy Land.

* HERON: The Heron represents Prudence in preventing dangers, guarding against them.

* PALM: The Palm Tree symbolizes Victory and Triumph.
