The work "Linajes y Blasones de Galicia", by Father Crespo, where the heraldry and the history of the family name Dauz appears, is the most important treatise of the heraldry of Galicia (Spain), and was published three hundred years after the appearance of the posthumous "Nobiliario, Armas y Triunfos de Galicia", by Father Felipe de la Gandara. Its author Father Crespo Pozo, had for his investigations, vigils and costly walks that were rewarded with the kind collaboration of Nobles as the Dukes of Medinaceli facilitating the archive of the Grand Casa Marquesal de Camarasa, etc. All this resulted in a plurality of sources of consultation that make the scholarly work, encyclopedic and illustrative in Galician heraldry. This work collects, as we have already said, the history and heraldry of family Dauz so the Dauz or they are Galician or linked in some of their branches to Galicia.

One of the most distinctive qualities of heraldry is the use of a limited palette of colours and patterns, usually referred to as tinctures. These are divided into three categories, known as metals, colours, and furs.

Next we are going to see the meanings of three tinctures:

1) PURPLE: Justice, Wit, Truth, Greatness, Wisdom and Love; those who wear this color are obliged to defend the Prince defending ecclesiastical people.

2) OR (Gold): Nobility, Magnanimity, Wealth, Power, Light, Constancy and Wisdom.

3) SABLE: Black color that symbolizes Prudence, Sadness, Rigor, Honesty and Obedience.

Next lets look at the characteristics of some figures that we can find in heraldry and crests:

* TURTLE: The Turtle is one of the most noble figures, being a symbol of the Knight who retires late from combat, facing his enemy until the last moment, trusting in his own strength.

* DOG: The Dog is a symbol of Faithful Vassal.

* WALL: The Wall represents the Noble Heart of the Knight, in which no betrayal or disloyalty can enter.

* SEA: The Sea symbolizes a raging and wrathful spirit that does not lose, however, the limits of the obedience that it owes to its sovereign.

* FIG: The Fig Tree or its leaves symbolize the State Benefactors.

* TROUT: The Trout is a symbol of Ardent Spirit in war and Calm and Serene in Peace.

* SUN: The Sun is a symbol of Sovereigns and Kings, those who with their power vivify the entire State; It is an emblem of Eternity, Greatness, Power, Providence, Illustrious Nobility and Magnificence.

* GRAPE: The Grapes symbolizes Liberality, felicity, and peace; also, association with wine-making.
