The work "Linajes y Blasones de Galicia", by Father Crespo, where the heraldry and the history of the family name Coiro appears, is the most important treatise of the heraldry of Galicia (Spain), and was published three hundred years after the appearance of the posthumous "Nobiliario, Armas y Triunfos de Galicia", by Father Felipe de la Gandara. Its author Father Crespo Pozo, had for his investigations, vigils and costly walks that were rewarded with the kind collaboration of Nobles as the Dukes of Medinaceli facilitating the archive of the Grand Casa Marquesal de Camarasa, etc. All this resulted in a plurality of sources of consultation that make the scholarly work, encyclopedic and illustrative in Galician heraldry. This work collects, as we have already said, the history and heraldry of family Coiro so the Coiro or they are Galician or linked in some of their branches to Galicia.

One of the most distinctive qualities of heraldry is the use of a limited palette of colours and patterns, usually referred to as tinctures. These are divided into three categories, known as metals, colours, and furs.

Next we are going to see the meanings of three tinctures:

1) GULES: Red color that symbolizes Strength, Victory, Daring and Highness.

2) SABLE: Black color that symbolizes Prudence, Sadness, Rigor, Honesty and Obedience.

3) PURPLE: Justice, Wit, Truth, Greatness, Wisdom and Love; those who wear this color are obliged to defend the Prince defending ecclesiastical people.

Next lets look at the characteristics of some figures that we can find in heraldry and crests:

* BEZANT: The Bezants, due to its oriental significance, was adopted by most of the Knights who took part in the expedition to the Holy Land.

* HOLM: The Holm Oak is a symbol of Strong and Constant Spirit in heroic actions and courageous undertakings.

* PALM: The Palm Tree symbolizes Victory and Triumph.

* PORCUPINE: The Porcupine is a symbol of Strength against danger, because it closes in on itself and defends itself with its own weapons (quills).

* WOLVES: The Wolves are a symbol of a Constant Heart that suffers the calamities of war and siege with generous spirit; but when the time comes to fight in the open field, he fiercely fights, without giving his enemy a barracks.

* WHEEL: The Wheels symbolize Speed in carrying out the most arduous undertakings. They are also a symbol of Fortune, Favor and Inconstancy.

* PIGEON: The Pigeon is a symbol of Health; in the coat of arms it denotes Fidelity and Love. It is the emblem of the Third Person of the Holy Trinity and, as such, adorns the currency of the French Order of the Holy Spirit.

* MALLET: The Mallet indicates War for the damage that it can cause to armor.
